It would be great to give a clear definition of the kind of skepticism you are talking about: ignorant skepticism.

It is worth noting that skepticism and especially rational skepticism are one of the roots of the scientific method and approach to build knowledge and understanding of the world.

Skepticism, if based on beliefs or unfalsifiable assumptions — and without proper questioning of the method used to build them — is just another word for a kind of dogma and a fertile ground for false beliefs, “alternative facts”, and conspiracy theories.

Maybe negationism or denialism are better words to describe their behavior and claims.
