Since we launched the SoD26 and FoD26 calls for participation earlier this year, we’ve seen some great initial interest. However, to ensure this year’s conversation is as deep and diverse as it deserves to be, I’ve decided to push the timeline back by a few weeks.

Why the change?

Two main reasons:

  1. Quality & Space: I’ve been a bit more buried in personal projects than I anticipated. I want to make sure I have the headspace to properly review every submission and facilitate the event.
  2. More Voices: We’ve had a few great registrations, but I want to give those of you still "thinking about it" the extra breathing room to get your thoughts onto paper. These events thrive on a wide range of perspectives!

The New Schedule

  • New Submission Deadline: March 13, 2026
  • ✍️ Publishing Period: March 16 – March 20, 2026
  • 🎙️ The Main Event (Live): March 20, 2026

Join the Live Event

Whether you are submitting a piece or just want to join the discussion, you can now register for the main event on March 20th via your preferred platform:

👉 Register on Meetup
👉 Register on Luma

Both platforms link to our Google Meet room for the live session.

State & Future of Design 2026: The Community Showcase · Luma
Join us for the culmination of SoD26 and FoD26. After a week of community-led publishing and reflection, we are gathering to discuss the themes, challenges,…

A Reminder of the Tracks

  • The State of Design (SoD26): Focused on critique, the "decay of craft," and the operational walls we face today.
  • The Future of Design (FoD26): Focused on exploration, new systems of production, and the evolving role of the designer.

If you were worried about missing the original February deadline, this is your sign! I’m really looking forward to seeing what you all come up with.

If you have any questions about your submission ideas, feel free to reach out (join our Slack and DM me).

Thanks!

Kevin from Design & Critical Thinking.
